Q:

Unitized Fridgidaire Model fez831as1 fez831as1

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer is leaking.

You would need to take the unit apart in order to determine where the water is coming from. It could be a hose, seal, pump, or bearing. We would need to have a location where it is leaking.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Q:

shaft seal FEZ831AS1

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about a part for your Frigidaire laundry center model FEZ831AS1. I am so sorry the shaft seal needs to be replaced and that you are having difficulty locating the part. I will be happy to help you with this.

There isn’t a part the manufacturer calls the shaft seal. I have included images at the bottom of this post of parts that may be the piece you are looking for. Please review the images to see if the part is recognizable. If it is not in one of these images, then the only way to replace the part will be to replace the transmission assembly. The first image is the transmission assembly. If a part has a key number pointing to it, it can be ordered separately. In the second image, key 11 is the agitator. Keys 14, 15 and 16 sit under the center of the agitator. On the last image, keys 35 and 36 sit under the transmission assembly. They are at the base of the washer above the bottom plate.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

Washer spinning to fast on spin cycle FEZ831AS1

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. We, at Sears, value your service.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the washing machine.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Frigidaire washer model number  FEZ831AS1.

Run the washer without any clothes in it.  Put it in the spin cycle.  The first sound you will hear will be the water pump coming on, If the nois that you heard is this sound, except very load like you said, it's possible something got stuck in the water impeller pump.   If the sounds normal when the pump comes on then the noise gets very loud as it starts to spin fast and faster, then most likely you have the problems could be the outer tub bearing.  The tub bearing is key number 26 on the link below. If that is the problem then you need to change key number 21 also, the upper spin bearing.

Outer tub bearing for the model FEZ831AS1
