Question and Answers

Q:

Over heating & tripping breaker FER231AS2 Frigidaire Dryer

A:

 Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com

The problem could be a weak circuit breaker and not the dryer. In order to diagnose the failure will require checking and monitoring the current/amperage draw of the dryer while running. This will require an amperage meter.

Set the dryer for air only and see if trips the breaker. If it doesn't trip the likely failure is a weak circuit breaker, loose wiring or a heating element issue. The element is basically a resistor, and is more than likely drawing too much current. Essentially it could be the motor or the element. I am pointing to the element in this case because the element runs off of 240 and the motor runs off of

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose the issue.  To schedule an appointment click on the blue link below.

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to help you with replacing the belt in the dryer. First, make sure to unplug the dryer. Then use a putty knife to release the clips securing the top. Once the top is lifted, remove the two screws securing the front panel. After the panel is removed, you can replace the belt. I recommend vacuuming the lint out to prevent any chance of a fire.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the dryer.
