Q:

cracked range top FEFL68GMA

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

The black range top can be replaced without replacing the entire range. They are fairly straightforward to install by taking off the rear hinges. Once they crack however, there is not fix, they will need to be replaced.

For convenience, I have included a blue link below that you may click on to be directed to the PartsDirect site to purchase the needed main top.

Q:

Light wont turn off FEFL68GMA Frigidaire Electric range

A:

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the light. One of the four burner switches has a stuck contact causing the indicator light to stay on. Each one of the terminals on the infinite switches is labeled. The terminal labeled "P" stands for Pilot. When the infinite switch is turned to the ON position, terminal "P" contact closes and completes a voltage path to the Pilot light and it glows. You can use the process of elimination to find which switch is bad. Turn the breaker off inside your house breaker box dedicated for the range or if it has a power cord you can unplug it. Once the voltage supply has be disconnected to the range, remove the control panel and disconnect just the one wire connected to terminal "P" and then turn the power back on. If the light stays off, replace that switch. If the light comes back on, disconnect power again and then go to the next switch and remove the wire on terminal "P" and repeat these steps until the light stays OFF and then you found the bad switch. Now on the switch for the right front unit on this model, use terminal 4 if there is not a P terminal. NOTE: Remember to disconnect the power supply before removing and reinstalling the wires back onto terminal "P". I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services.

There is a chance that the electronic control board was damaged when that element failed. If you replaced the bake element, see if the broil function works. If neither element works, then you could have a problem with the DLB (Double Line Break) relay that provides L2 OUT voltage from the control board.

If only one element won't heat, then you could have a problem with the Bake relay or the Broil relay depending on which element you just replaced.

You can unplug the range and examine the electronic control circuit board in the console. Remove the upper back panel behind the console to access the back of that circuit board. Check for damage or burns spots on the circuit board. Look for wiring insulation that appears to be discolored or burnt. If the control board is apparently damaged (burnt) then it will need to be replaced. You can order parts from this page:
Frigidaire Range Model FEFL68GMA Parts. You will normally need to order the overlay when replacing the electronic control board.

I hope that this information helps. If you need further assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.
