Thanks for the information about your dryer model FDG336RES2; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on your description of the dryer starting to heat and stops I would first recommend that you inspect the venting in your home. Here is a quick and easy test you can perform. Access behind the dryer (move away from wall) disconnect the vent tubing from the dryer vent and move it to one side.  Set the dryer on a high heat setting, load with clothes and run the dryer for a normal time. (Be prepared to have some lint and heat in the room)  If the dryer completes the load properly then your venting will need cleaning. If it does not dry properly reply with more details and I will be happy to respond.  It is normal for the flame to cycle on and off during the heating process, if the venting is restricting air flow the flame will short cycle and clothes will not dry.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Thank you for submitting your question. Before replacing parts I recommend testing them to ensure you're ordering the correct parts. Dryers have several components that assist them in heating. For a gas dryer like yours the igniter, coils valves, safety thermostat, and control thermostat aide your dryer in heating. If you have an ohms meter you can test these component to see which one has failed. When a gas dryer heats intermittently most likely the coils valves are faulty. When there's no heat at all it will be an issue with the thermostats or the igniter. Here are video's on how to test the igniter , safety thermostat , and the control thermostat . I hope this information helps. If you require further assistance, please reply back to this thread with more details. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

How do I fix a misaligned dryer tumbler?

A:

Your first steps in completing this repair would be to tear down the dryer and determine the reason for your misalignment. Follow these steps to access the internal components of the dryer:

  1. Unplug the dryer to completely disconnect electrical power.
  2. Use a putty knife to release the clip on each side of the top panel and hinge the top panel up and back.
  3. Disconnect the wire harness connection to the door switch.
  4. Remove the screw on each side of the front panel that attach it to the side panels of the dryer.
  5. Release the clips holding the front panel to the side panels and gently lean the front panel forward.
  6. Disconnect the any remaining wire harness connections attached to the front panel (drum light, moisture sensor and console harness if present).
  7. Lift the front panel from the clips on the bottom.
  8. Release the drive belt from the motor. Note the routing of the belt through the idler pulley so that it can be properly replaced.
  9. Use the belt to lift the rear of the drum and release the ball from the hitch. Move the drum out the front of the dryer.

This teardown should give you access to the components that align your drum. Determine the parts needed and order them using the parts list and diagram at Sears PartsDirect ( www.searspartsdirect.com ).

If you need more help with this repair, resubmit your question with additional details.
