Question and Answers

Q:

Won't start with lock symbol lit Fdb1100rhm2 Frigidaire Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. Thank you for your question. I know how upsetting a locked dishwasher can be. Normally, the lock light will be turned on solid when the control is locked. To turn it off, press and hold the

NO HEAT DRY

or

AIR DRY

button for 4 deliberate seconds (or until the lock light turns off). The light will blink if a key is pressed while the control is locked. You may have a stuck key on the keypad that is preventing you from unlocking the control. You can try disconnecting electrical power from the dishwasher by shutting off the breaker. After 5 minutes, turn the breaker back on. See if the dishwasher will work properly or see if you can unlock the control. Disconnecting power can sometimes clear a stuck control board. It may not work, but it is worth a try. If these tips don't help, it is likely that you will need to replace the control switch assembly (154774401) on the dishwasher. You can give us a call at 1800-366-7278 or click here to get that switch assembly ordered.

If you do not feel comfortable making the replacement yourself, I recommend calling a service technician to complete this type of repair.

If you would like a Sears technician to complete the repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It's important that the dishwasher is filling with the proper amount of water and that the wash motor is running. If it's not getting enough water the spray arm(s) will not rotate or if the water is not hot enough the dishes will not be clean. The incoming water supply filling into the dishwasher must be a minimum of 120 degrees. The heating element must also be working to also assist in raising the water temperature (140 degrees) in certain cycles.

Your model dishwasher is designed to fill with a very minimal amount of water. The reason why is because water will never spray out both spray arms at the same time, the spray arm alternate operation each time the pump motor pauses monetarily. This is why it does not require as much water as other models using a different style of pump. I added an image below with the theory of the pump operation.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
