Freezer Icing up

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the frost build up. If the fan motor is still running, this would indicate a problem with the defrost system. The most likely reason it's not draining out the hose is because the drain is probably frozen inside. If the drain is frozen, use hot water to clear it. A technician may be needed to check the defrost system. To check the defrost system, the temperature will need to be at least 20 degrees. Now, you can turn the dial on the defrost time, which is located behind the cabinet (# 23 in picture) slowly, until it clicks and the unit stops running. After a few minutes if you can hear a sizzling or hissing sound inside the freezer, it means the heating element is on. This would indicate the timer # 297318010 is not advancing on its own and would need to be replaced. Remember, if the temperature is not cold enough, this test will not work.
