Q:

Hoover steamvac F7226-900 will not dispense cleaner

A:

Having to disassemble parts on a carpert cleaner can be quite a challenge. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful. Have a nice day!

Thanks, that response was helpful. I am ordering a new solonoid valve although, another post I found mentioned using the hose to see if the problem was with the metering valve or something like that because the hose bypassed both solonids. The hose disn't work either. I guess I will wait till the new part comes in and hope that fixes it. How much would this likely cost to have a sears repair outlet do the repair?

Thanks Sam! Actually, the diagrams you posted make me think maybe I ordered the wrong solonoid but I will wait to see. I really have not ever seen the "pump" listed as a part. Is is a part of the main motor or is it replaceable?

Thank you for the update on the carpet cleaner Keith. There are different series models that have solenoid pumps that just look like solenoids but oscillate back and forth internally to dispense the water and some models just have a solenoid as a valve for gravity flow to the distributor bar done by the brushes. The pump is only really needed for the hose to pump up hill for above floor cleaning. For your model I think you have ordered the correct part. Please let me know if it worked out okay for you. Thanks again Sam, I received and replaced the solenoid today but still no detergent is being dispensed. Furthermore, I tried hooking up the hose and am getting neither water or detergent through it. Any ideas of what to try next?

Thank you for the update Keith. Please fill the solution tank with some water and push on the little check valve on the bottom of the tank to see if it is working. If it is stuck then you may have to replace the tank. You may also want to fill the tank completely to see if the tank is cracked and leaks. If that is not the problem please remove the handle assembly by removing the two screws and then re-install it to make your levers are connecting in the handle to where they dock on the base. If you will look at the images I have given you the upper left image shows how the system works so we have to make sure that when the knob on the handle is in the solutions position it will activate the solenoid valve for the gravity flow to the floor brushes. Please let me know what you find out. Sam A.
