Thank you for your question on the leaking Hoover carpet cleaner when you put the solution in to the container.

It sounds like the feed valve for the solution tank is stuck open.

I will give you a picture of the area I want you to look at to see if this is the problem.

Please reference the picture below at item 32 in the picture. There is also a lever that opens the valve that comes down from the handle. This boot may not be sealing under the solution tank where it docks onto the rubber boot.

Check that and let me know what you have found out.

Thank you for your question. If the handle is in the upright position, it will automatically divert the suction to the tool. I'm attaching some information from the owner's manual and I hope this will help you. If it still won't switch back, I recommend taking it to the nearest repair center to have a technician check it. Just discovered that the part is no longer made. Leaves 2 options. Find a similar item or cut off bad section, about 3 inches, and attach the connection piece back in place. thanks again keary
