Q:

how long should the cycles take? Even express is taking over an hour- is this normal? 11025132410 Kenmore Washer

A:

I have the same issue. Manual is useless, no reference to times. 50 to 60 minute cycles seems to be the normal function. No indication of when to add softener. Downey Ball is a joke!

Q:

No 11047512600 Kenmore Residential washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore washer.

From the information you have provided above, I can understand the frustration of having your washer malfunction, after researching model number 110.47512600. I would suggest checking the drain hose for any kinks or clogs. This will cause the washer to leave water in the tub and not spin.. Also check to see if there are any debris in the pump itself. The pump may need replacing because it may not be strong enough to pump out the water properly. Another thing to check is make sure the door is latching properly and not popping open.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

*Safety disclaimer before you try and repair the unit make sure the power supply is disconnected. There may be sharp parts to the unit that can cause injury to you if not careful. I have the same issue. It will not spin on the express wash cycle (I don??t know about the other cycles). At the end of the cycle, I open the cleanout and drain the water (which seems to all come from the hose leading out of the pump (and not the hose leading from the tub). Then I run it again using the Rinse/Drain & Spin cycle turning off the ??2nd Rinse??. It will then spin and operate acceptably. Any thoughts on this? I have already blown out the hose and it is not blocked. I also felt the impeller which seems to spin all right and doesn??t seem blocked.

A:

There is not a way to safely bypass that door lock on your washer. Since the washer spins the basket at high speeds, that door lock is a necessary safety device. I do not recommend that you attempt to bypass it.

Hello Frank. I do not recommend that you attempt to bypass the lid switch on that washer. I recommend that you diagnose the cause of your lid switch failure and replace or repair the defective component. The first image below shows a wiring diagram of the washer with that lid switch circuit traced in wire colors. I recommend that you UNPLUG the washer and check the wiring connections first. If those connections are okay, you can check that lid switch in the manual diagnostic test mode as shown in the 2nd and 3rd images. The 4th image shows additional testing and troubleshooting information for that lid lock assembly. That information should help you determine the cause of this failure. You can order parts from this page: Kenmore Washer 110.21102010 Parts . If you need more help, reply with additional details.

Lyle, I've read many of your responses to customer expressing their dissatisfaction with the lid lock feature and couldn't agree more -- I hate the lid lock too. I dye fabrics and it is necessary to open the lid to check on color saturation. More control over the operation of the washer is imperative in this case. I wonder just how much research the engineers are putting into their design? Washer operation is not a one size fits all application and the manufacturers should be aware of that. In some of your responses you said that you would pass along the customers' requests and concerns to the engineers. So can you give us an update? Did you actually confer with the engineers on the lid lock issue? If so, what the response? Do you foresee any change in future models to offer other options? I realize that these safety features probably fall under the "negligence lawsuit" category but please give the American public more credit for our intelligence and allow us to have control over our own machines. When I purchase a new washer I'll sign any waiver promising not to sue if someone sticks their arm in my washer at any time during its operation!!

Helen: No we have not recieved any response and we likely will not hear anything. Lid locks are needed due to liability. Washers today are engineered with no type of breaking system to stop the basket from spinning and this is why lid locks are used. Todays washers do not have a breaking system to stop the washer from spinning so this is why they have lid locks. I do not see any change in future models.

I also hate the locking lid of this washer. Now my washer wont run it goes from fill cycle to looking lid then back again. The washer never fills. I'm ready to throw it out the back door. I called a repair store and was qoated $300 for a new control panel. Thats almost as much as I paid for the unit new a few years ago.
