I am sorry to hear the light in the oven doesn't turn off as it should. There are a couple of things to check to determine what is causing this. First, does the light go off if you push on the closed door? If yes, then you will probably need to replace the door hinges. Over time they may weaken and do not hold the door shut firmly enough to register that the door is closed. I have include the link to order the hinges. You should replace both of them so they wear evenly.

If pushing on the door doesn't make the light go off, There is a oven light switch on the upper left corner of the oven frame. The closed door would push the plunger in. That switch may have failed and needs to be replaced. I have included that link for you also.

While you are getting the range in top shape,  I recommend getting some grate cleaner to remove any build up on the surface grates and burner caps. I have included that link for you.

Q:

How to change the main top on Electrolux free standing gas range

A:

Changing out cook tops does require clear instructions. I located information on your model in links two and three that may help. The second is the schematics for the range and link three is the installation instructions and has good diagrams that may help. Link one is from a previous expert post and has an attachment that may help. The model is a bit different but you can check it against your range if you like to see if it will help while you wait for the expert instructions. Hope some of this is helpful.

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to help you with replacing the cook top. I have included a set of illustrated instructions (See below). These should step you through the process of replacing the top. Please unplug the range before you start the repair because some of the wires on the valves are live all the time.

If you need further assistance, please reply below with more details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
