Q:

washer stopped spinning, what should I do?

A:

Check to see if the washer agitates. If it does not agitate or spin even though it drains the water then you have a broken motor coupler. Here is a link for a previous answer that describes this type of repair: Can I get instructions on how to access and change a suspected broken motor coupler on my Kenmore model 110.28922790 washer? ,will not agitate or spin/motor runs during those cycles /it fills and drains properly/suspect coupler/need instructions. NOTE: Your washer console is slightly different than the one shown in this link. Your console has a screw on the back side of each end cap that needs to be removed to release the console from the top panel.

If the washer agitates and drains, then you could have problem with the clutch, drive block, basket drive or transmission that is preventing it from spinning. Here is a link for a previous answer that describes this type of failure: Why does my Kenmore washer agitate, drains water, but will not spin on the spin cycle? . A technician will normally need to diagnose and repair this type of failure. If you are advanced in technical skills, you may be able to disassemble the washer and determine the cause of this problem yourself. The images below show how to access the internal components in this washer. Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components. If you are able to find the cause of your failure, you can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
