A:

Water does not flow from the spout into the icemaker mold for it to have a chance to make ice. I wiggled the rubber spout a little and a few hours later one set of ice was in the dispenser so I thought it was fixed. But that is all it made. This is has happened a couple times - where a few cycles of ice was made, but it has only happened about twice over the last week.

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker stops working. First, check to see if the black fill tube is frozen. If it is frozen, there is an update tube # W10149365 with a shorter nipple that will need to be installed. If the tube is clear, the icemaker in this model can stop working for a few reasons. Some are listed below:

  • The icemaker itself can fail
  • The water valve may not open
  • The optic boards can fail
  • The fill tube can freeze up
  • Freezer temperature not cold enough (should be 0 � 5 degrees)
The blinking led light can be flashing a code that will indicate the problem. If it flashes 2 times pauses and continues this while the door is open, it will be normal and if it stays on continuous, when the flapper door on the left side is held in, it indicates the boards are ok. I�m attaching a chart for the led indicator. When checking this icemaker, tape the little flapper door shut and disconnect power to the refrigerator. To check this icemaker, slide it out, so the front cover can be removed, to access some test terminals. There is a clip located on the back right corner of the icemaker that will need to be removed, to slide the icemaker out. There will be a screw at the bottom of the clip holding it. I�m sending a picture with instructions to remove this clip. With the clip removed, slide the icemaker out and remove the front cover. You will now see the test terminals, which are marked (see picture). Now remove the 3 screws holding the receiver board on the right side pull the board out and disconnect the harness from the board. Place a jumper between the black and black/white wires (see picture). Now use a second jumper and place it between the L � V terminals on the module. Reconnect the power and with both jumpers in place, water should now flow to the icemaker (be prepared to catch water from the fill tube). If water does flow, the icemaker # 2198597 will need to be replaced. If no water flows but you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # W10408179 will need to be replaced. If nothing at all happens, some voltage checks will need to be made. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.
