Thank you for submitting your question. I recommend testing the water valve first. For safety unplug the power to the refrigerator first. Here's how to check the valve:

  1. Disconnect the wire connectors from the water valve solenoid terminals.
  2. The icemaker solenoid has a white and tan wire and the dispenser solenoid has the violet and white wire.
  3. Set the ohmmeter to the R x 1 scale.
  4. Touch the ohmmeter test probes to the terminals of the icemaker solenoid. The ohmmeter should indicate approximately 160 to 170 ? of resistance.
  5. Touch the ohmmeter test probes to the terminals of the water dispenser solenoid. The ohmmeter should indicate approximately 330 to 355 ? of resistance.

If the water valve test good, then replace the ice maker (4317943). If the water valve test bad, then replace the valve (2315576). You can order all parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. I hope this information helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
