A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about the anode rod for your water heater model EE3J50RD045V. I am sorry the part needs to be replaced. I will be happy to help you with this.

You can cut the anode rod to the length you need. The best way to cut the anode rod is with a hacksaw. Use a file to smooth the cut and install the rod.

Thank you for your question. I know it can be frustrating when the water heater stops working. The resistance for the elements is good but also check each element to ground. If you get a reading to ground, the element will need to be replaced. If there is no reading the elements are ok. This would lead to a defective thermistor # 6910545 or control # # 6910605 board. I'm attaching some pictures and information to check the thermistor. Be sure to disconnect the power first. If it checks ok, the control board will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
