Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your dishwasher. Upon researching model EDW5500DSS0:  the “PF” error code normally indicates a power failure. The “PF” error code can indicate that the unit is not receiving power successfully. Using the wrong power cord can cause this error to happen, I have posted an image of the electric requirements for this model make sure that the power cord meets the requirements.

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with dishwasher. Upon researching modelEDW5500DSS0: it sounds like the electronic control board may need to be replaced. The control board governs the functions of the dishwasher including the start button, when the control board fails it can prevent the dishwasher from starting or recognizing that certain buttons have been selected.
