Q:

ice maker running water constantly ED5FVGXWS07 Whirlpool Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Refrigerator, Model: ED5FVGXWS07. From reviewing the details on your model, based on your description of the issue and the water flow intermittent I do suspect the problem to be the inlet valve. However there is a remote chance that the micro switch in the ice maker could be sticking.I suggest try this easy test; pull refrigerator out from the wall enough to reach the power cord. Advance the ice maker by gently moving the ejector fingers clockwise a few degrees, this will activate the ice maker to cycle. Observe and when the water starts to come into the ice maker quickly unplug the power supply. The water should stop immediately; if it continues to run for a short while then the valve is the issue.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the refrigerator to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

Q:

My Frig is 2 years old Freezer just stoped working all of a sudden ED5FVGXWS07 Whirlpool Refrigerator

A:

Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com, and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the inoperable refrigerator. I know how frustrating that is to have happen. If it’s not cooling at all, it first needs to be determined if the compressor is running. If the compressor is running, the problem will probably be in the seal system or with the compressor. It could be a low charge, a restriction or the compressor may not be pumping properly. These are checks a technician will be required to make.

If the compressor is not running, it could be a problem with the starting device, the compressor itself or if the condenser motor is not running. If the motor is not running and the compressor is very hot, the motor will need to be replaced. If the motor is running but not the compressor, it can be very difficult to determine if the problem is with the starting device or the compressor unless the starting device is burnt. A technician will have a kit and meter they can attach to the compressor, and will determine if the compressor or starting device has failed.

I hope this helps, and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
