Question and Answers

Q:

Ice Maker ED5FHGXKQ04 Whirlpool Side-by-side refrigerator

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model ED5FHGXKQ04; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Your ice maker does depend on a motor to eject ice; however the motor depends on other components to activate its operation. There are cams, gears, circuits and a thermostat that have to function properly  for the ice maker to eject ice.  Your ice maker is very temperature sensitive and the freezer temperature must be maintained at around 5 to 10 degrees before the ice maker can eject ice. This is the first thing you should verify. The ice maker will stop if these temperatures are not maintained and contributors of higher temperatures are door openings, heavier use, food loads and ambient temperatures in the area of the refrigerator. There are some tests you may be able to perform to determine if the motor is good, and if water inlet valve works or if the thermostat is okay. I will attach images at the bottom to assist you.
