Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the dispenser stops working. You have received some very good information from James, even though this is a different model. First, make sure the dispenser is not locked. If it's not locked, the most likely problem will be a defective freezer interlock (light) switch. To check this switch, first disconnect power from the unit. Now, use a small screwdriver and pry the switch out and connect the black and blue/black wires together and make sure they don't touch anything. Now reconnect the power and activate the dispenser. If it works now the switch # 4387911 will need to be replaced. It's available at SearsPartsDirect . If it still wont work, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Gail, on most models but not all, the dispenser will have a pad with the word lock and usually there will also be a lock symbol that will appear when the lock pad is pressed. If yours does not have a lock pad then it cannot be locked. This could be a problem with the switch as indicated previously. If you would like to have a technician check this you can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out. If you would like more assistance, I will be glad to assist you further.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the fridge shutting off. Unfortunately, without the model number, I will not be able to provide specific information. Normally, depending on the type of controls, this would indicate a stuck contact in the thermostat or the timer. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and please include the complete model and serial number and I will be glad to assist you further.

Steve, thank you for the model number. The next time you notice the unit is getting warm and not running, try turning the thermostat all the way off and back on or tap on it. If the fridge starts running again, the thermostat # 2198202 will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you.

First, make sure the water filter has been changed over the past six months.

Water may have stopped dispensing due to a frozen water line in the door. If this happens it could be due to the freezer getting too cold (below zero) or from a void in the door insulation. Sometimes the water reservoir will freeze or the tubing might kink. The water valve could be restricted or defective. The dispenser actuator may not be making good contact with the switch or the switch could be defective. These are a few examples of what can be causing your problem. I recommend having a technician diagnose and repair this dispensing problem for you, being that there's so many possiblities. You can schedule service with Sears Home Services .
