Question and Answers

Q:

How do I get my water filter to lock into place?

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator mode ED5FHEXNQ00l sorry you are having a problem with the filter I will be glad to assist you. The filter on your model can be difficult to install, the key is proper alignment and once it is aligned it must be pushed into place until you hear a snap sound.  I have attached an image that should help you align the filter correctly.  If you still have a problem they may be damage or issue inside the filter housing that will need replacing.  If you need a technician here is a link to Sears Home Services. If you need parts here is a link to Sears Parts Direct. I hope this helps, if you need more help reply with more details and I will be happy to respond. Ron H.

Thank you Ron. Unfortunately, the picture of the part that you attached to your response was not the part that my frig takes. The part number or replacement disposable ice and water filter is 4396508. It will not snap in. I put it in vertical per the instructions and then turn to the right. It turns but will not snap into place. I found the "how to" for this filter on YouTube. It looks fairly simple, however, I am not having any success with the filter.

Hi Deborah, thanks for the reply sorry I sent the wrong image. Here are a couple more tips, turn water supply off top reduce pressure on the filter housing. Be sure the protective cover is removed from the new filter; if it was not removed on first attempt it could be stuck inside the housing now (just in case) last try rotating the filter 190 degrees and install. And again there could be a problem inside the housing. Ron H.

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the wattage draw for the generator. The wattage can be determined by multiplying the voltage times the amps. So, in the first unit, 115 volts X 6.5 amps will give you 747.5 watts. The second unit will be 115 volts X 5 amps for 575 watts. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to help you replace the icemaker in the refrigerator. I have provided you with the instructions that come with the icemaker. Please use these instructions along with the following steps.

  1. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Remove the ice bucket.
  3. Remove the two or three mounting screws. Some models just have the two mounting screws on the top left side. They are hard to see because the front of the ice maker is so big.
  4. once the screws are out the ice maker should be hanging by the wires. Disconnect the wires and remove the icemaker.
  5. Move the bail wire to the new icemaker and reverse these steps to install the new icemaker.

I hope this is helpful. If you run into any problems, please reply below.
