Question and Answers

Q:

Reservoir Tank ED2PHEXNQ00 Whirlpool Side-by-side refrigerator

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Sears does not recommend parts outside of what the manufacturer has provided for the unit. There are variations to the water reservoir and if you wanted to locate a reservoir outside of the original, you would need to look online based upon the brand of refrigerator and the part description. There is no guarantee that if you find one that's acceptable, it will work properly.

Sorry we couldn't be of more help in this instance, but we appreciate your inquiry and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

i have a whirlpool ref model # ed2phexnq00 and icemaker wont make ice. it has the ice majic assembly attached to front of icemaker. i removed it and advanced it

A:

Refrigerators have come a long way and today we rely on them to dispense water and ice on demand. The problem is each one operates differently. That is one reason I always reach for my owner's manual. I found and attached the manual for your fridge below. It may help while you wait for the expert answer. Hope this helps!

It sounds like your describing a defective ice module or cycling thermostat. The ice module has the switch contacts built in, no separate switches that are removable or replaceable. You can jump across T-H momentarily (see attached tech sheet) to see if the module starts a harvest cycle. You can also ohm out the operating thermostat #27 T to H (no power) with an ohmmeter to check it. The thermostat should read closed continuity as long as the freezer temperature is 35 degrees or below, freezer temp should be 5-15 degrees. If the thermostat checks good I recommend replacing the module assembly #35, part number 8201515 $84.88 www.searspartsdirect.com

  • Thermostat; 627985 $22.48,
  • Adhesive; 4317852 $18.33
  • Complete icemaker; 4317943 $123.89
  • Module assembly; 8201515 $84.88

I am sending you the service tech information sheet for this style of icemaker. You can troubleshoot all of the suspected components from the front of the module. Please click on the image provided below.

You can operate the icemaker without the ice magic but will not have the ice plus option.

Remember to disconnect power to the refrigerator before attempting to replace parts.

Q:

What do I do to replace the water filter on my Whirlpool refrigerator model ED2PHEXNQ00?

A:

The filter is located in the grill across the bottom of your refrigerator. You don't have to turn the water to the refrigerator off to replace the filter. You should put a towel on the floor in front of the refrigerator in case some water drips out.

Turn the handle on the filter cap counter clockwise about 1/4 turn or until it stops and remove it. Turn the handle on the filter counter clockwise about 1/4 turn or until it stops and pull the filter out. Pull it firmly out without hesitation and it won't leak.

Reverse these instructions to install the new filter.
