Question and Answers

Q:

Changed my icemaker, now what?

A:

Now that summer is here we need all the water and cold drinks we can get. So having your ice maker fix and it still not working properly can be really frustrating. A suggestion I have is to set service with a Sears technician. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry you are having this problem with your new icemaker. If you have just installed this icemaker, I recommend giving it at least 12 hours to initiate the first cycle. If it still won't cycle, sometimes jump starting it will help. By this I mean to manually put some water in the mold. If it does not harvest the ice and refill, it will indicate a problem with the icemaker thermostat or the temperature in the freezer is too warm (above 12 degrees). I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thanks for the link. I manually turned the gear and water started to fill the icemaker. I guess it's time to replace it.

I know it can be frustrating when the icemaker stops working. The information you have received from James is good but it does not pertain to this model. This icemaker has some test terminals on the module that may help determine what the problem is. To access the terminals, pull the front cover off of the icemaker. The terminals will be marked (see picture) and using a well insulated jumper, place it between the L - V terminals. Be careful this is a hot (live) check. With the jumper in place, water should flow to the icemaker. If water does flow, the icemaker # 4317943 will need to be replaced. If no water flows but you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # 4389177 will need to be replaced. If nothing at all happens, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you would like more assistance, additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
