Thanks for contacting manage my life about your Maytag refrigerator model MSD2652KEW; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you with this issue. Based on your description I would first check your water supply, be sure the water line is providing a good water flow. Also check the screen located in the valve (if applicable not all models have the access) clean debris out if needed. I have attached an image below that show how to adjust the water to the ice maker, make adjustments a little at a time until you get the size cubes you want, _Always disconnect power supply before servicing the appliance and when testing live voltage be sure to wear proper safety equipment (gloves and eye protection) also be aware of sharp metals on product_I hope this helps, if you need more help reply with details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Thank you for your question.

I will be able to assist you in repairing the ice dispenser. The image below shows how to remove the front cover. Click on the image to enlarge it. Depending in the age there might not be any way to avoid breaking the tabs. Over the years, the plastic will get brittle. If the cover beaks a new cover can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

The second image below shows how to take the dispenser apart to access the door. If the tabs for the hinge pin are broken, I think kit number 8201756 will fit your refrigerator. If the you can not get the kit to work you have to order a complete door.

Please reply to this post if you need further assistance with the repair.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Q:

How do I replace a 2180208 ice door mechanism with the substituted part 8201649 on a Sears refrigerator model 106.57262790?

A:

All of the parts of the kit must be used together. Make sure that you unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power when accessing these internal parts. Although the new parts look different, they will fit and basically work the same. The image below shows how the parts should fit together in the dispenser housing. The flapper door will snap on the arm as shown below.

This information should help you properly assemble the new part in the dispenser. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Thanks for your answer to the previous question. I'm having the same challenge with my Whirlpool model number ED25PQXFW01. Part number 2180208, the Door Mechanism Assembly broke. (Brittle due to old age.) I have three more questions: First, do I have to remove the Front Cover to gain access to the area to replace the part? Second, if so, what is the best way to remove the Front Cover without damaging it? I'm fairly handy, but have never worked on this portion of a refrigerator before. I don't want to have to replace the Front Cover if I can avoid it. Third, do you know where I could acquire a repair manual for the refrigerator. I'm sure all my questions would be answered there, but after a lot of searching, I can't seem to find one.
