I understand how inconvenient it is to have your refrigerator not working properly. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link that will provide you with more information about your problem. I hope my link is useful.

Unfortunately, the information you have received will not pertain to this model. There is not a filter in this refrigerator. If there is no water from the dispenser and the icemaker will not fill, the most likely problem will be a failed water valve. A good check will be to, press the dispenser lever and listen for a buzzing noise. If you hear this noise, it indicates the valve is getting energized. Before replacing the valve, I recommend checking the water flow to the valve. Disconnect power to the unit and shut the water supply valve off. Now remove the back panel cover and disconnect the water supply line from the valve. Place the end of the water line in a bucket or pitcher and turn the water valve on. If there is good water pressure, then the valve # 4318046 will need to be replaced. It’s available at SearsPartsDirect .

A similar check with the icemaker can also be made. Pull the front cover off of the icemaker and you will see some terminals (see picture). Place a well insulated jumper between the L – V terminals (be careful this is a live check) and water should flow to the icemaker. Again if no water flows but you hear the buzzing noise, it indicates the valve is getting energized. If water does flow now, then the icemaker # 4317943 will need to be replaced. If you don’t hear anything when making either check, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. I’m listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you.

Q:

My Whirlpool model#ED22DQXDB00 has an icemaker that has stopped working, also, the water dispenser quit at the same time. Any help?

A:

From the description you give the water supply is a possibility since both the ice maker and water dispenser work off different water valves. It would be unusual for both valves to fail at the same time.

You can check the mold of the ice maker to see if it is empty. If there is ice in the mold the problem might be one of harvesting caused by a bad ice maker thermostat.

If there is no water from either then a frozen line is most likely the problem. You can remove the ice maker and check if the fill tube is blocked with ice.

You can check the valve in the back of the refrigerator and see if it hums when the dispenser button is pressed. If you have a meter you can check voltage to the solenoid. Voltage but no water might indicate a bad valve.

This is a problem you can most likely correct but first try to identify these things first.

It may be each has a separate problem. The ice maker valve may be bad but the water dispenser might be blocked with ice.

Make some checks and submit another question with any additional detail for further assistance.
