Q:

Missing Pulley cover??? EC-12TWT4 Sharp Vacuum cleaner

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com. I am sorry to hear about the belts breaking so soon after installing them on the model, I know how frustrating that would be.

You're exactly right, your model EC-12TWT4 would have a different set-up and wouldn't use the pulley cover shown in the parts diagram. The pulley cover would be used for models EC-14TWT6/14TAT6, which would be different styles, which is why the agitators are also different.

It's hard to say for sure why the belt is breaking prematurely, but typically it has to do with the brush roller or agitator itself. Sometimes they can bind up and not want to spin freely, when this occurs the belt will begin to heat up until it snaps. That would be the most logical reason.

If you had the repair done a few months ago, I would recommend calling the repair technician/shop back and inquire why the belt is breaking prematurely after the repair. They may have forgotton to re-insert one of the washers on the agitator/brush roller preventing it from freely spinning.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
