Question and Answers

Q:

Replacing dwu7560aab with modern machine with tile on the floor

A:

An installation manual would be great when it comes to measurements on the previous Maytag dishwasher. Manufacturers stop producing manuals after ten years. This could be the cause of availability. Sometimes the expert can find one that is very similar to yours. You should hear back within two business days.

The dimensions and cabinet cut-out requirements for the dishwasher model DWU7560AAB are shown in the image below. Here is a link for the installation guide on that model of dishwasher: Dishwasher Model DWU7560AAB Installation Manual .

Here is a link for the installation guide on the Kenmore Elite Dishwasher model 665.13939: Installation Instructions for Kenmore Elite Dishwasher 665.13939 . Page 4 of that manual shows the dimensions and cabinet cut-out requirements for that model.

I am not aware of a Kenmore Elite model 13939 (665.13939) that is shorter than the one shown in the above installation guide. There are leveling feet that can sometimes be removed to shorten the unit by about 1/8" in some situations. That is normally not a recommended tactic to use. The dishwasher should be properly installed and leveled in order to be covered by the manufacturer warranty. If the dishwasher is forced into a cabinet opening that is too small, then a technician may have trouble accessing components in the event that it needs warranty or repair service.

In this situation, you may be able to resolve the problem by removing the tile that causes the cabinet opening to be too short. If not, then you will probably need to install a dishwasher that will properly fit in that opening. You will be severely limited in the models that will fit in that cabinet opening. The Asko D5233ADA model is the only model that I found that may fit that 32 1/2" opening based on the dimensions. The installation guide for that dishwasher still indicates that it requires height for the cabinet cut-out opening. Here is a link for the owner's manual/installation guide for that model of dishwasher: Asko Dishwasher Model D5233ADA Owner's Manual/Installation Guide . The dimensions and installation instructions are in the back of that manual.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Q:

How to remove the lower spray arm and to check for a clog in the pump?

A:

I recommend checking for a blockage where the drain hose attaches under the sink fist. Did you just install a new disposal and forgot to knock out the plug inside the drain hose connector?

I added the parts breakdown and instructions in the images below. It has all the directions you need.

NOTE: If the filter (key#6) is covered with debris or hard water minerals, the pump will not be able to pull the water through the filter in order to pump the water out or pump water up through the spray arms.

Q:

Why is my Maytag dishwasher not cleaning properly on the top rack?

A:

Here are some causes of poor dishwasher cleaning on the upper rack:

All items should be loaded so they are separated and facing the center.

  • The position of large bowls or pans should not be placed over the center of the lower rack where they could block the wash action of the center spray tower. This could prevent the top rack from getting enough water for proper cleaning.
  • Larger items should not be placed so that they shield smaller items from the wash action.
  • Bowls should not be nested together as water is then unable to reach all of the surfaces.
  • Avoid loading items in a manner that would restrict the rotation of the spray arms.
Improper water fill, after filling, the water level should be about even with the heating element in the bottom of the dishwasher. This could also prevent the top rack from receiving enough water during operation. If the water level is low:

  • Check that the dishwasher is level from front to back and side to side.
  • Check for low water pressure.

With both racks pushed in reach inside & spin the spray arms, they should spin freely. Check for cracks along the seams of each spray arm.

If the filter is clogged this could prevent proper water circulation from reaching the top rack.

The filter is located under the lower spray arm, below the top of the pump cover. This will require the use of proper tools to remove & clean.

This may require you calling a service technician to diagnose & repair.
