Question and Answers

Q:

dishwasher does'nt stop filling DU945PWSQ0 Whirlpool Dishwasher

A:

Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com

From the great description you give this problem is caused by a bad inlet water valve.

If you had to turn the water off under the sink to stop the water fill then replace the inlet valve to fix this problem.

You can schedule a service call to fix this problem but replacing the valve is a good do-it-yourself project.

The part number is 3384890.

The water valve is located behind the lower access plate on the left side. See the image below for help with this.

Remember to turn the power to the dishwasher off first before starting this repair.

If you need further assistance, please resumbit your question with additional details. Thanks for visiting SearsPartsDirect.com

Q:

Help with dishwasher

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The strange noise is likely the motor bearings if it's making a low growling type sound providing you did not find any hard objects or broken glass around the upper wash impeller or below where the drain impeller is located. If it is worn motor bearings, the complete pump and motor assembly should be replaced as an assembly.

Your pump had to have a pump gasket or the pump would not seat in the bottom of the tub and the tub would not hold water. The pump seal fits around the outer perimeter of the sump base in order to make the water tight seal where the pump sits in the bottom of the tub. A centering tool is not necessary.   Also, key #13, the pump outlet seal will stretch after removing and it will not fit back in the groove again. You will likely have to replace the pump outlet seal too. I added a couple of images below to reference if needed. Your pump will likely be little different than the one in the images but it's basically the same.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Yes there was a piece of broken plastic from one of our pumpkin carving tools down on very bottom. We assume that's what it was. Funny I was looking at the same diagram you sent me to go by. Anyhow I do not understand from looking at the diagrams where the gasket was/is located. I'm sure we had one on there but not too sure where it is suppose to be located. Can you possibly help in explaining to me where it is?

Sorry I guess I should also state that as far down as we got was the inlet base. The drain and the base of pump is still in dishwasher. We only took parts off til we seen the plastic pieces causing the problem.

acwall04; I added an image below showing all the seals. If you did not remove the pump base, you will not need seal key#16. The only seal you will likely have to replace is key#13 because it will stretch and not lay in the channel correctly. I assume you removed all the parts down the pump base key#25. You do not need to worry about key#16 which fits around the pump base. I hope this is helpful.

Yes this helped very much. Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it. Now I can get the seals ordered and get this back together. Washing dishes by hand stinks when you have a dishwasher right next to ya lol. Thanks again.
