Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dishwasher is not working properly.

I recommend testing the float switch.
This should produce a reading of either zero or infinity.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Whirlpool DU940gwdb6 Dishwasher.  I was unable to bring up that particular model.  Can you please double check the model number and reply below with any changes if there are any.

My first suggestion is to try and select various cycles and options.  If you can not select any cycles and options then you may have a stuck or shorted keypad.  You should be able to at least select all cycles and options.

Notice the Energy Saver Dry/ Air Dry/ No Heat Dry keypad.  On most cycles this keypad controls the control lock/child lock feature.  Try pressing and holding the keypad to turn the lock feature on or off.

If you can not select or change cycles and options then likely the console will need to be replaced.

Please reply below with a revised model number if there is one and with any other questions or details for further assistance.

Thank you for the reply with model number. Check the No Heat Dry/Air Dry keypad. If pressed and held for 3-5 seconds the control lock feature should turn on or off. The problem is likely caused by a stuck or shorted keypad. The console and keypad are no longer available parts. Replacement of the dishwashwer might be a better option.
