Q:

Why does the knob on my Whirlpool Dishwasher stick and turn hard?

A:

It could be the timer or excessive friction between the cam and the cam follower, resulting in the timer stopping in the dry cycle or it will make it hard to rotate the timer knob complete around. Remove the timer and rotate it with out be installed. If the timer rotates normally replace the cam.

Advance the timer knob around a few times. Next, set the timer knob two (2) clicks before the word “DRY”. Then allow the timer six (6) minutes to advance past the word “DRY. If the timer does not advance on its own, replace cam with part# 3378124.

Thank you so much!! That picture was exactly what I needed. Lightning struck near my house a few weeks ago and got the timer on my dishwasher, the outdoor phone connection, a surge protector and blew a small hole in our butane gas line to the cook stove. I am thankful to God that it wasn't worse. Everything is fixed now and done as cheaply as possible. Thanks again.
