Question and Answers

Q:

Whirlpool dishwasher mod #DU920PFGB4

A:

I can understand your concern over your dishwasher getting finicky as to when it will start for you.  I'm wondering if we are not having an issue with the door switch.  I've located a link that will discuss this idea and offer other possibilities you should consider.  Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction. I hope this information will be helpful and have a nice day.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Since you must fuss with the door in order to get it start indicates that one of the two door switches is not always closing and completing the circuit. The issue with the console buttons not always working likely indicates a faulty console assembly. The detergent door not opening could be caused by a faulty dual wax motor, broken linkage or a faulty electronic control.

Based on all the different symptoms with your dishwasher, I may be in your best interest to call and have a service technician come out and properly diagnose and repair your dishwasher. You may want to consider investing in a new dishwasher rather than investing in having your older dishwasher repaired. Based on all the different symptoms, it will likely cost more to have it repaired than to have it replaced.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
