When an appliance goes out we usually see money going out the window, either in repair cost, or replacement. Managemylife.com can take the mystery out of the repair and an expert can tell you if its time for a replacement if you ask him. I did some research for you at this web page and found an expert answer to a similar question which may shed some light on the problem. One thing you should know is this dishwasher has one motor. It runs one direction for wash and one direction for drain.

There will be about a cup of water left in the sump to keep the seals wet.

If there is more water then the potential cause can be a clog in the drain hose or where it connects under the sink. Try removing the hose from under the sink and drain the unit into a pan and see if it drains any better.

Most likely the problem will be the drain impeller is stripped. Like a propeller with the fins worn down it may drain some but not enough. The image below will show how to access the drain impeller. I suggest you take a look.

I hope this helps. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.
