The operation of the drain system in this dishwasher is shown in the image below. Your symptoms point to a clog or restriction in the soil settler. To check this area yourself, you will need to shut off the breaker for the dishwasher and pull it out from under the counter. Lay the dishwasher on its back and use the procedure shown at the bottom of the image to access the soil setter. NOTE: Make sure that all water is drained from the dishwasher before beginning this procedure. You may still be able to gravity drain the dishwasher into a shallow pan. If not, you can use a wet/dry shop vacuum to remove most of the water. Be prepared to catch residual water when you remove hoses and components on the bottom of the dishwasher. If you remove the soil settler, you will likely find a restriction that is preventing the dishwasher from draining properly. If not, then you will likely need to have a service technician check the motor and other components. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your dishwasher not working properly. We are here to help. Based on the symptom, I suspect the float is stuck or a problem with the water valve. Also, make sure the water supply is turned on. If the float is stuck in the up position, no water will enter the dishwasher. The float should go up and down freely. The first image below shows the float. However, if the float is working properly, the water valve is not opening or there is no power to it. When the dishwasher is ready to draw water, the timer sends 120 vac to the solenoid and the valve opens. That voltage can be checked with a multimeter by measuring for 120 vac at the solenoid, during the start of a wash cycle. The second image below shows how to replace the water valve. I hope this helps.
