Question and Answers

2003 GE dryer model #DRSR483GD1WW squeeks loudly.

Thank you for your inquiry on your Ge Dryer, Model: DRDR483GD1WW. From reviewing the details on your model, the rollers can be making the noise or even the idler pulley can be squealing and making noise. This will be difficult because once the top and the front are removed you can't run the dryer and check where the noise is coming from. First I recommend raising the dryer top by removing the lint filter and removing the two screws located there. With a putty knife you can release the two clips located about 2 inches in from the front corners. Remember to unplug the power first. With the top up you can run the dryer and see if the location of the noise is more apparent. You can also visually check the felt seal along the back of the drum. With the top up you can remove the front panel by removing the two bolts on the top corners holing the top of the front panel to the cabinet. With the bolts removed you can pull the front panel out and up off the two lower clips. With the front panel removed you can access and change the felt seal, drum rollers and idler pulley depending on where you think the noise is originating from. I have also included a link to a couple of videos on similar model of dryers, which should be able to troubleshoot what could be causing the dryer to squeak.
