Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If it's the motor humming when start is pushed then the start button/switch is Okay. Open the door and manually rotate the drum in a counter clockwise direction. If it it's too hard to rotate then it could have a seized motor or a drum bearing issue. If you can turn the drum; shut the door and push start. If it starts; the motor is likely going to need to be replaced.

I added an image below with dis assembly instructions if you feel confident in repairing the dryer. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your dryer. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
