Question and Answers

Q:

i have a whirpool portable dishwasher that wont drain model # DP940PWKQ1

A:

Dishwashers are a great convenience. I can see how the unit not draining would be a concern for many reasons. While you wait for the expert to answer, you can check a general how to web site I attached below if you wish. Most of those sights tend to focus on checking the drain line. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern, no one likes to wash dishes by hand.

Based on your symptom and details, there is likely a blockage/restriction in the check valve fitting that the drain hose is connected under the dishwasher. You will need to disconnect the power cord from the power source and then remove all the water from the tub. Lean the dishwasher over on its back and remove the sound shield (key#20) and the drain hose clamp. Remove the check valve (key#15) using a pair of channel lock pliers by turning it counterclockwise (CCW). Remove any debris from the check valve and also from inside the port the check valve was removed from. Once cleaned, reverse the procedure and then test your dishwasher.
