Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You did not indicate which cycles and settings you're using. If the door seal is missing or torn and not sealing then it can affect the drying process. If the gasket is not torn or missing, the gasket is likely Okay not causing long dry times. Be sure to use the more or very dry settings if you're using the Sensor Dry cycles. Do not mix cottons with synthetics or the cottons will not be completely dry when using the sensor dry cycles. Cottons take longer to dry than synthetics.

The number one cause of a dryer taking too long to dry is a restriction in the venting system. For testing purposes only; disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and then dry one normal load using the timed dry cycle. If the clothes come out dry when set for 60 minutes, then this test would confirm a restricted venting system.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

I removed our gasket (part #4986EL2004A) to clean off caked on gum. I cannot figure out how to re-install. I called Sears Parts and they said some parts don't have installation instructions. Does anyone know how to re-install the rubber gasket?

A:

Charles: The door gasket is sandwiched between the plastic ring/cover and the inner door panel. You will need to take the grey inner ring off from behind the door to install the door gasket.
