Thank you very much Joseph. I was able to get the belt from part direct (fast shipping by the way. Took only 2 days) and I was able to install. I have a follow up question. I see why the belt broke and why the dryer is so loud. The belt keeps coming off the tension wheel and geting stuck on the bolt that holds the tension wheel on. I have tried to move the belt farther back on the drum. But after about an hour of running the belt eventualy works its way off the tension wheel. How can I get the belt to stay on the tension pulley? Thank you, Dan

Hi Dan,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

I see that you were able to change the belt but are now having issues with the belt coming off. Most of the parts are no longer available for this dryer. I recommend checking the front bulkhead (panel). There is a felt liner and plastic guides that the drum rides on attached to the panel. if the glides and felt are worn out the drum will tilt and cause the belt to track crooked. You may also need to work on the idler arm.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

When I replaced the belt, I noticed the felt and plastic guides were worn considerably. Is there a kit to replace the felt, or is it a matter or replacing the drum? I have a new electric dryer that I bought from you, I just have to switch from gas and install a plug. So I do not want to spend a lot on fixing this one.

Dan,

These parts are unavailable in a kit or separately. If you want to fix this dryer you will have to make parts from a different model work on this one. The only way to tell if those parts from another dryer will work is to have them on hand and try to fit them to this dryer.

Good luck.
