Question and Answers

Q:

Why would Heat cycle stays on only for 5-10 minutes Maytag Model DG303 what could issue be? Maytag Model DG303

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Maytag Dryer, Model: DG303. From reviewing the details on your model, I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dryer. The symptom you describe sounds like the motor is getting too hot and shutting off by the thermal overload protector inside the motor. Once the motor cools down enough for the thermal overload to reset the motor will run again. However, if this is not the case then you will need to check the connections on the motor. I would check the motor for continuity. If you are getting an infinity reading, then the motor will need to be replaced.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dryer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

follow-up question so are you saying that the times would also cause the dryer not to heat?? dg303

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your dryer. Upon researching model dg303; a bad timer can not only cause the cycles not to advance but also can make the dryer not heat.  You can test the timer using a multi meter, before you start to the repair or testing make sure you unplug the dryer power cord.  Access the timer wires in back of the control panel and find the wires that power the timer normally this will be the larger 2 wires.  Turn the timer to one of the heated cycles (with the dryer still unplugged) and disconnect the 2 power wires from the timer, using the multi meter to read ohms put one probe on each terminal. The test should read a test reading of 0 (zero), if the test reads a higher number of ohms then the timer has failed.

Q:

Dryer runs but doesnot heat and the dial does not prgress to less dry DG303 Maytag Maytag laundry

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your dryer. Upon researching model  DG303; it sounds like the timer may need to be replaced. The timer allows the dryer to go thru the different cycles available on this unit, so when it fails it can cause the dryer to not advance to certain cycles. The timer for this model has been discontinued by the manufacture, and is no longer available, there is no substitution.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.
