Question and Answers

Q:

push start button makes humming sound motor does not turn DE09-US0 Fisherpaykel Dryer

A:

Thank You for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com. I do apologize for the delay in answering your question.

You likely have a failed drive motor or severe friction issue preventing the drum from rotating. Open the door and manually rotate the drum counterclockwise (CCW) to find out if the drum is extremely hard to rotate to eliminate a friction problem. Note: It is normal to have to use a little bit of force/effort in order to start the drum rotating. Once you have it turning, it should not require a lot of effort to keep it turning.

After rotating the drum manually, shut the door, set the timer and press start. It may start and run. If it continues to hum, the motor is likely bad.

Note: This may take two persons. Set the timer, open the dryer door and locate the door switch. Push and hold the door switch in. Reach in and grab one of vanes and slowly start rotating the drum counterclockwise (CCW). While turning the drum counterclockwise press the start switch. The dryer will likely begin to run. Let go of the door switch and then shut the door. Press start again to see if will start on its own. If the motor hums and does not start, the likely failure is the motor.
