Question and Answers

Q:

Which cable do I need to hook up my TV to my home theater system?

A:

The Best connection to watch the DVD player on your TV is the HDMI connector. If this option is available on your TV, it will bypass the most stages in your TV to deliver the video. If not then the Component (green, red, blue) would still offer progressive scan play back and the Composite (yellow) would be most standard connection not letting you get progressive playback but still display the movies. If you do have a HDMI port or component, you will still have to connect the composite input for the Digital Media Port if they have a display. DMP are addons that for your system such as these . If you want to listen to you Satellite/Cable box then I would suggest connecting it directly to the home theater system because most TVs only allow ATSC (over the air high def) to be passed through as 5.1 through the optical out. If that’s not a choice or something that matters to you then just hook up the audio L/R (white/red) cables into the system.
