Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

According to the wiring schematic it shows 2 terminals on the fan switch and two black wires. If your old switch had 2 terminals and three wires, it likely had two wires connected to one terminal using a double spade connector.

According to information I found, part # 12002046 is the kit needed for your model. Install service part # 12002046, per instruction sheet # 16022041, for models: CVGX2423B/Q/W, CVG2423W, CVDX4180B/W, CVE3401B/Q/W, JED8430ADB/Q/W and model CVG2420B/W.

I added an image below with the wiring diagram of your cook top and information and instructions.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thank you for your help. However, I already have the fan switch, part #74009254, but I cannot view what the "jumper", part #74007666 is or what it does. Is it the wiring I need to make the new switch connect to the old wiring. Also, I researched the fan receptacle cord, part #71003476, as a possible solution, but this part is no longer available. Can you offer further guidance on the two issues? Please help me save my cooktop!

Jmark: It seems that you will need to order the kit I posted in the first response. You will need the fan switch/relay and jumper wire. The jumper wire will need to have the male and female spades installed on the end of the jumper as mentioned in the instructions. If you do not feel confident in making the repair, I strongly suggest calling a technician to repair your cook top.
