I need to wire my new stovetop but it has 5 wires (red, blue, yellow, green and ground) and I only have 3 wires to connect to (red/black/ground).

The first image below shows the normal procedure for wiring the pigtail or the electric power cord for this cooktop. This may help you if you are installing that cooktop and need help with the wiring for power to the appliance. Be sure that you have the house circuit breakers for that appliance shut off when handling those wires.

If you are trying to wire a switch or component in the cooktop, then the wiring diagram in the second image may help you.
