Question and Answers

Q:

Cleaning behind the drum of a dryer-Frigidaire CRGR7900AS0 Frigidaire Dryer

A:

Unplug the dryer and pull it forward. Shut off the gas supply and disconnect the gas line. There is a back access panel at the back of the dryer. Remove that panel and you should be able to vacuum out that bottom area. If you need more access, then you will need to release the clips that secure the front of the top panel to the cabinet. Lift the top. It is attached with hinges in the back. Prop the top panel securely against the back wall behind the dryer. Remove the screw that secure the front panel to the dryer and pull that front panel off. That should give you more access to the bottom of the cabinet.

Q:

Why does my Frigidaire gas dryer heat for about 30 seconds then quits?

A:

From what you’re describing it sounds like poor venting is causing the hi-limit to trip. On a gas dryer if the vent is restricted or blocked the lazy flame will cause the hi-limit thermostat to shut down the burner. I recommend pulling the exhaust vent hose off & running the dryer for a test cycle to see if the burner comes on & stays on for the proper amount of time. Other possibilities; hi-limit operating thermostats.
