Question and Answers

Need to look at installation instructions before purchasing a replacement part for a Maytag electric stove.

Having the installation information for the glass top before installing it is a great idea. I did some research on your model number and part number but was not able to find the instructions. Your expert will be able to help answer your question. It may take two business days for your expert to reply. If you would like to look into Sears doing the repair here is a link for Sears Home Services. I do hope that everything works out with the cook top.

NOTE: Always be sure to disconnect the range from the power source before servicing.

I understand how important it is to have further information before purchasing a part. To remove and replace a glass cook top please follow the set of general instructions below. When your unit is cool, open the door and remove the two screws securing the cook top to the frame. Once the screws are removed raise cook top and slide forward slightly. With the cook top forward disconnect the wire harness and remove the cook top.

To Remove Glass Top Assembly

Disconnect the appliance from power source before servicing.

  1. Remove two (2) screws securing glass top to frame. The screws are located in the front left and right corners with the door open.
  2. Grasp front edge of cook top and slide out slightly. With the top moved forward disconnect the wiring harness.
  3. Lift the top off the unit and lay aside securely.
  4. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.

To Remove Element:

Disconnect the appliance from power source before servicing.

  1. Remove the two screws securing the main top to the frame.
  2. Lift up slightly and slide the main top forward to access the wire harness. Disconnect the harness.
  3. Lift the top off and lay aside securely with under side up.
  4. Remove the screws securing element to main top.
  5. Disconnect wiring to element and replace element.
  6. Reverse procedure to reinstall.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. However, if you do not feel confident doing this on your own, I recommend you schedule for an in home appointment with a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
