Question and Answers

Q:

what does the f-2 error code on my maytag oven mean?

A:

Hello, a suggestion that I have for you is viewing your owners manual if you don't have your owners manual no worries! On the tab that says manuals at the top of the page click on it and type in your model number in the search box. Your owners manual should come up and in there it has your error codes with an explanation of what the code means. I have provided the link below. I hope this helps!

The"F2" fault code implies the oven got too hot. This can be caused by a faulty oven control board or the oven temperature sensor probe. The OVEN SENSOR is part #12001656 and the clock/oven control would have to be removed and sent in for repair by the service technician. You could replace the oven sensor to see it resolves the failure and if it doesn't then the oven control/clock assembly would have to be removed and sent off for repair. The oven sensor probe is located protruding into the oven cavity in the upper left or upper rear corner. You may have to pull the range out and remove and replace the sensor from the back of the range. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord or power supply from the range before servicing the range.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
