I can see this would get the heart racing. I am glad you are alright. The high voltage from a range can be very dangerous.

The F2 fault code implies the oven got too hot. This can be caused by a faulty oven control board or the oven temperature sensor probe. In this case I suspect the element is broken and shorted to the metal cabinet after the electrode arced. This would cause the element to heat constantly.

Remember, if you access any parts on the range to disconnect the power first .

If the element appears to be okay, you could have a problem with the wires between the element and the control board. The wires would need to be visually checked for damage and the continuity checked. I would highly recommend having a technician perform further tests. You can schedule a Sears technician here; Sears Home Services . The technician will provide an estimate and give you a discount on a replacement product at Sears if you choose not to do the oven repair.

I checked the parts list for the cost of a control board. It is no longer available and the manufacturer does not recommend a substitute. You may find it is more cost and time effective to shop for a new range. You can check for a replacement here; Sears .

Please reply if further assistance is needed and please be careful. Thank you for using Manage My LIfe.
