Question and Answers

Q:

i cant get the lock light off of my oven

A:

A oven is definitely something we depend on and when it begins to malfunction it can be a huge inconvenience. While you are waiting for an expert to respond, I have attached a helpful link below that may provide information to assist you with your question.

That owner's manual that is posted in the above link does not appear to be valid for your range. Your range appears to have an electronic control that is different than the ones shown in that manual. If you do have a control that matches the one of the ones that are shown in that manual, then you may be able to use information from that manual to troubleshoot this problem. This range appears to have a lever type of door lock on the oven door. Check to see if that oven door is locked. If it is, then unlocking the door using that lever may fix your problem.

The control may have a child lock feature. If the control lock is enabled, then you may need to disable that feature as shown in your owner's manual. I do not have the owner's manual available that shows the operation of the electronic control that your Maytag range model CGR3742CDC appears to have.

If you can unlock the controls, then the oven may work properly.

If the controls are not locked and the oven door is not locked shut, then you may have a problem with that door lock assembly. You can try to reset the lock by starting a self clean cycle and then canceling that function once the oven starts to heat. This may reset the control so that it will work properly.

If that does not work, then you will probably need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this problem. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to continue to troubleshoot this problem on your own, you can unplug the range and check the wiring connections on the electronic control board and the door lock assembly in the range. The wiring diagram for your range is shown in the first image below. The other images show the procedures for accessing the door lock assembly and the clock control board in the console. Your range will look similar to the one shown below but it may not be exact. Your oven door lock assembly has switches but does not have a motor according to the parts diagram. The console may be slightly different. The general access procedures should be about the same. Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components. If you find a wiring failure or a problem with that door lock assembly, then you may able to fix this issue yourself. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website if necessary.

Be sure that you unplug the range and shut off the gas supply before accessing and replacing parts.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the serial number of your range.

This can be a complicated repair. If you are not confident that you can safely access internal components and reassembly the range properly, I recommend that you have a service technician complete this repair.

A:

I do not have a good detailed picture but the parts list description indicates (CHR) for "Crome". The part number is 74006504 for $45.59. I added an image below of how the part is shown in the parts diagram.
