Question and Answers

Q:

Thermidor c301us cooling fan

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptoms and details, the relay on the control board is not likely always closing and completing the 120 VAC to the cooling fan. If you're certain the wires in the circuit are not broken causing an intermittent connections, I suspect the control board will need to be replaced. The voltage supply to the cooling fan should be measured at the control board. If there is no voltage at the control, I suspect a faulty control board. You should be able to trace the cooling motor circuit back to the control board in order to know which wires and terminals to measure voltage across.

The hot wire will connect to the relay board and the neutral wire will likely be connected to a small terminal block with other neutral wires.

NOTE: I do not recommend making any voltage measurements unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so, otherwise I strongly suggest calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your oven.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Thanks. Can I just replace the relay or it soldered into to control board?

A:

Keith: The relay is soldered onto the board and I would not recommend trying to remove and replace just the relay.
