I am assuming you mean the receptacle the element plugs into.

Disconnect and remove the element from the range. Remove the 2 screws beside the receptacle. These screws hold the receptacle in. Put your hand under the receptacle outside the burner box to catch the receptacle when it falls.

Order the new receptacle part number Y708730, cost $3.87, and the wire kit part number 712228, cost $23.85. The wire kit contains the new contacts that go inside the terminal block.

Q:

Is there a way to remove melted plastic from a heating element?

A:

The only way I know to remove melted plastic from a heating element coil is to scrap off all that you can when the element is cool and then turn the element ON and let it burn off. NOTE: Be sure to turn ON the down draft exhaust fan.

You should be able to purchase and replace just the heating element coil without having to replace the complete module. I will need the model number of the module in order to verify the price and part number of heating element.

Resubmit your question with the model number of the module for verification of availability and price of the heating element.
