I did look into the model number you have provided, and i have found that you will need two of the rock plates. Two are required for your unit.

Thanks for the information about your Jenn Air cook top, I will be glad to assist you. Unfortunately the number you provided as a model number is incorrect, the provided number appears to be the part number for an element cartridge not the model number of the cook top. I will only be able to provide a general answer without the complete model number. Many of the Jenn Air cooktops have one side that is used for a grill, this takes a special cartridge. When the grill side is used one control does operate both sections of the grill element. If the wrong cartridge is placed the results could be the same as you are experiencing.  However there could be other factors as well and with a correct model number I would be able to research and better help you. Please reply with a complete mode number off the cooktop and I will be happy to respond.  If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Thank you Ron. Really appreciate your efforts. The Jenn-Air Model is C-221-8 grill-range. (grill on left, range on right) The range on the right is the problem. The large element and small element was always controlled by separate dials. It has only been a week since the problem started.

The range element cooking "cartridge" is model A100-8, as opposed to the grill cartridge.

Hi Elton, based on your description I can only conclude that there is a wiring issue. This could be a grounded wire or insulation burned off and wires touching. There will need to be a teardown and inspection of the control area and the cartridge to locate the problem area. A total rewire may be needed. Ron H.
