I usually just turn mine upside down and shake to see what kind of debris falls out.

Compressed air is the next step. Blow the keyboard thoroughly with the compressed air.

For most people this should be enough.

You can go further by removing the keys and cleaning them individually. The letter keys will pry up with a small screwdriver. Remember where the keys go. I wouldn't recommend removing all of the keys at the same time.

You don't need any expensive cleaners for this. The best is isopropyl alcohol. A clean dry cloth would also be needed.

If you wish to go farther then I suggest you check the following site: Keyboard Maintenance .

I hope this has been helpful to you.

You can use any of the methods mentioned above.... turn the key board upside down and shake it or remove each individual key and clean it. However I would recommend against removing the individual keys as the force needed to pop the key off can damage the keyboard and it will take you a while. I would recommend the shake method and then taking a can of compressed air and using and spraying the air into the different areas of the keyboard. Be careful when cleaning the actual tops of the keys to first turn the computer off and to not spill any liquid in between the keys. I would recommend and slightly damp cloth for this.
